As a local, New Testament church, we derive our purpose solely from the dictates and demands of the Scriptures.
Victory Baptist Church exists for the following reasons:
To Spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a Fervent Attempt to Win the Lost.
“And he (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
“But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth,” Acts 1:8
With God’s help, the church must always keep as its supreme goal the spreading of the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Victory Baptist Church has a world wide vision to reach those without Christ! Both here and abroad our church strives to reach people for Christ through personal soul winning, public preaching, distributing gospel literature, and by sacrificially supporting both home and foreign missionaries.
To Disciple New Converts and Strengthen the Faith of Established Saints through Bible Teaching, Fervent Preaching, and Practical Training.
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” II Timothy 2:2
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come into the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine...” Ephesians 4:12-16
At Victory Baptist Church, much effort and time is invested in the purpose of “perfecting of the saints.” Sunday School, Youth Training, Preaching Services, Wednesday Night Bible Study, Patch Club, are just a few examples of time spent discipling and instructing those who have been born again. We want to produce mature Christians who are “stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15:58)
To Provide Opportunity for Christian Activity and Enjoyment, Absent of the Sinful Influences of the World.
“Let brotherly love continue.” Hebrews 13:1
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and prayers.” Acts 2:42
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?...” II Corinthians 6:14
"And the apostles gathered themselves together with Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.” Mark 6:30-31
From time to time, in the busyness of service, it is good to come apart and enjoy some rest and leisure. For the Christian, there is not much that the world has to offer that we can feel comfortable enjoying. One of the purposes of Victory Baptist Church is to provide an opportunity for Christian fellowship and enjoyment for God’s people. Let us make sure that these times are earned and necessary because of our fervent commitment to the Lord’s work.
To Commit Ourselves to the Teaching and Training of the Next Generation so That They Will be Qualified and Able to Carry on the Work of God after Our Passing.
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children...” Deuteronomy 6:5-7
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.” Ecclesiastes 12:1
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” I Timothy 4:12
Victory Baptist Church has dedicated itself to the teaching and training of the next generation for the glory of God. We invest heavily, both our time and resources, to reaching children and teenagers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We then provide ministries to disciple these young people so that they will grow up to be strong in the Lord, and prepared to serve Him effectively with their lives. Some of these ministries include Vacation Bible School, Youth Activities and Junior and Teen Summer Camps.
